UPES DAT 2021 - Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for B.Des and M.Des course admissions at UPES is different. Applicants can go through the detailed eligibility conditions for both courses  mentioned below:

Eligibility Criteria for B.Des:

Applicants need to fulfil these eligibility criteria if they want to secure admission in design programmes presented by the School of Design Studies (SoDS). Applicants need to apply for B.Des programmes on offer by UPES only if they have successfully secured at least 50% aggregate marks in their Class X as well as their Class XII. Though, if candidates do not want to appear for UPES DAT 2021 exam then they are eligible to secure admission in B.Des course presented at UPES if they fulfil either of the below-stated eligibility criteria:

  • Board Exam Merit: Scored at least 65% aggregate marks in Class X and Class XII.

  • UCEED/ JEE Main Merit: Scored at least 50% in Class X and Class XII as well as cleared JEE Main with valid AIR rank or UCEED exam.

UCEED Admission Criteria:

Admission criteria is stated below as per previous years record-

  • In UCEED 2019 exam those candidates who secured Rank up to 5562 as the passing conditions for admission to B.Des programme.

  • In UCEED 2018  exam candidates who secured Rank up to 1344 as the passing conditions for admission to B.Des programme.

In case Applicants do not fulfill the UCEED eligibility criteria then candidates need to apply for UPESDAT 2021 Online test.

Eligibility Criteria for M.Des:

Applicants are supposed to  fulfil these mentioned eligibility criteria if they want to secure admission in design programmes presented by the School of Design Studies (also called SoDS). Applicants are eligible to secure admission in M.Des programmes at UPES deprived of giving the entrance exam if they hold a valid CEED score.

Candidates meet UPES DAT 2021 eligibility criteria for M.Des admissions if they have:

  • Scored a minimum of 50% aggregate in their Class X and Class XII.

  • Pursued BTech/BE in any discipline/BFA (4 years duration)/BArch/BDes/ BSc in Design (3 years) plus one year of foundation/ Applied Arts with at least 50% marks.

Age Criteria:

Only applicants whose date of birth lies on after October 1, 1998, are eligible to apply for admission. Date of Birth as verified in the Secondary Education Board/University certificate only will be considered authentic.

UPES Admission through CEED 2021: Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants who have qualified UCEED 2021 with a score of 40.5 or above are relieved from giving the UPES DAT exam. Such applicants need to directly appear for the Portfolio Presentation and Personal Interview admission round in university.

UPES DAT 2021 - Reservation Criteria

  • Fifteen percent (15%) of the seat in all the courses offered are reserved for the residents of Uttarakhand subject to their residence of the Sthai Niwas Praman Patra (Residence Certificate) issued by the recognized authority of the state of Uttarakhand.

  • The seats under this are fixed only on the merit basis/positions secured under this category.

  • Only those candidates can avail this benefit who have declared their intent to opt under this category at the time for applying for admissions.

  • In case the applicants applying under this category are unable to produce their Sthai Niwas Praman Patra (in original) on the day of admission then their admission will stand cancel.

UPES DAT 2021 - Application Form

Aspirants can fill UPES DAT 2021 Application Form either in the online or offline mode. UPES DAT 2021 exam will remain conducted in month of April 2021.

Offline mode:

UPES DAT 2021 Application Form and same brochure of that can be acquired for INR 1750 personally from  any of the admission hostages at Ahmedabad, Delhi, Cochin, Coimbatore, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Dehradun, Kolkata and Mumbai.

  • Click on the link as per domicile status either Indian Resident or Foreign Resident.

  • A sign in button will be displayed on the screen. Sign in to buy the Admission Brochure.

  • Fill up all the details correctly and precisely including the course that you want to pursue.

  • Click on the ‘Submit’ button after filling all the details.

  • You will get notified on email at your registered email-id in Application form.

  • choose on the link given to you in the email from UPES to verify your email id .

  • Now your account is activated.

  • Now fill up the Application Form online and follow the instructions given.

  • After submitting the Application Form, Pay Online for UPES Brochure and Application form.

  • After completing the submission process successfully, take a copy of the completed application form for your future reference.

  • On successful submission of your form, you will get an online application/registration number. Please save this Registration number carefully for future reference.

Documents required for filling the UPES DAT 2021 Registration Form

The Following documents must be kept prepared while filling the application form of UPES Design Aptitude Test 2021:


1.Certificates of previous degrees and class 10th & 12th Marksheet.

2.Proper details of the candidates as in class 10th certificate. 

3.Scanned copies of the candidate’s photograph and signature 

4.Details of the payment method with receipt.


5.For an offline application form, passport size photographs must be kept. 

UPES DAT 2021 - Admit card

With the submission of UPES DAT Application Form, admit cards will be issued to eligible aspirants few days before the entrance test. All admit cards will be released online. Applicants need to download and take a print-out of their UPES DAT 2021 Admit Card from the official website of UPES.


  • Visit the site www.upes.ac.in.

  • Search for the “Admit Card” options.

  • Click on the “UPES Admit Card” link.

  • Select your desired course and exam

UPES DAT 2021 - Exam Pattern

UPES DAT 2021 for B.Des and M.Des programs are going to be conducted in online mode. Their particulars have been given below:


  • UPES DAT 2021 Exam contains objective type multiple choice questions.

  • There will be 25 questions in total, carrying 4 marks each.

  • Time period to complete the paper will be 60 minutes.

  • For each wrong answer -2 marks will be deducted.

UPES DAT 2021 - Marking Scheme

Marking scheme is as followed by UPES DAT 2021 :


4 marks will be given for each correct choice. Also remember and kindly note  that there is negative marking for the exam. That is 2 marks will be deducted/minus from your score for every wrong choice of answer and 0 marks for no answer.

UPES DAT 2021 – Result

UPES DAT 2021 Result will be announced by June 202 (tentatively)V for the May session. The rundown of shortlisted candidates for B.Des/M.Des projects will be declared at the authority site of the college. 


Candidates can check their outcome on the site at www.upes.ac.in, by giving their application and roll number. Undergraduate students who qualify for the test will be called for an interview and work portfolio show.

UPES DAT 2021 - Cut-Offs


UPES will declare the cut off of UPES DAT 2021 for admissions to B.Des courses for the session 2021-22 soon after the declaration of the result. Applicants need to secure the cut off marks or minimum percentage of marks required for admissions to B.Des and M.Des courses offered by UPES. Those who secure the minimum cut off are called for the counseling process.

Ans 1. According to the exam pattern of UPES DAT 2021, there is a negative marking for each wrong answer. -2 will be deducted for each incorrect answer and + 4 will be awarded to the correct response.

Ans 6. Candidates must reach to the IPU CET Examination Centre 2 hours prior to the examination.

Ans 7. You can select multiple courses under the same category in a single Application Form. Though, to select various courses across the categories, you have to fill the separate Application Form under separate registration.

Ans 8. No, merely appearing for IPU CET does not ensure that a candidate gets to appear for the counselling session for admission into GGS IPU programs. Candidates need to score at least the specific Cut off score in order to be eligible to be shortlisted for the counselling process. The cut off list is released individually for all the academic programs offered by the university.

Ans 9. Applicants need to carry in person one Government approved Photo ID along with the Admit Card to the test venue on the exam date. Applicants who are not carrying suitable Photo IDs will not be allowed to appear for the test.

Ans 10. Yes, there are specific age-related criteria for different programs, such as:

    • Undergraduate Program applicants’ age should be in the range of 17 – 21 years
    • MBBS/BDS applicants should not be beyond the age of 25 years.
    • Bachelor of Vocation applicants should not be beyond the age of 45 years.
