Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Examination is a university-level engineering entrance exam controlled by Vellore Institute of Technology. VITEEE is the common entrance exam for VIT Vellore, VIT Chennai, VIT Bhopal, and VIT Amravati.

Major Changes in VITEEE 2020

  • VIT has changed the exam pattern of VITEEE 2020. An aptitude section has been added of 10 questions carrying 10 marks.
  • Number of questions in the Physics and Chemistry section has been reduced by 5 questions, now there will be 35 questions each.

VITEEE 2020- Eligibility Criteria

The candidates willing to sit in this engineering entrance exam must fulfill the following eligibility requirements released by the exam conducting board i.e. Vellore Institute of Technology. Conditions regarding age limit, nationality, academic qualifications are listed below. Those candidates who are not able to meet the required conditions are not allowed to appear for VITEE.

Qualification Criteria

Candidates willing to appear for the VITEEE-2020 should have either completed or shall be appearing in 2020, in any one of the following qualifying examinations –

  • The Higher Secondary Examination conducted by the State Board; Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE, New Delhi), 
  • Indian School Certificate Examination (ISCE), New Delhi.
  • Intermediate or Two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University.
  • High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.
  • General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/Cambridge/Srilanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
  • As per VIT Norms, Regular ‘NIOS’ board candidates are also eligible for VITEEE. They are required to produce the Migration Cum Transfer Certificate at the time of admission.

Qualifying marks

  • Candidates willing to appear for the VITEEE in 2020 must have secured minimum aggregate of 60% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology in the qualifying examination.
  • For SC/ST and Jammu and Kashmir/ Ladakh and the North Eastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura candidates the average marks obtained in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology (PCM / PCB) in +2 (or its equivalent) put together should be minimum aggregate of 50%.
  • CERTIFICATE TO PROVE COMMUNITY / NATIVITY must be produced at the time of counselling, failing which admission would not be possible.

  • Candidates who have selected Maths / Physics/ Chemistry / English / Aptitude in VITEEE 2020 are eligible for all the B.Tech. Programmes.
  • Candidates who have selected Biology / Physics/ Chemistry / English / Aptitude in VITEEE 2020 are eligible for the following Bio stream programmes only. However after joining, registering Mathematics as bridge course is compulsory.

    • B.Tech. Biotechnology(VIT, Vellore)
    • B.Tech. Computer Science and Engineering with specialisation in Bioinformatics(VIT, Vellore)

VITEEE 2020- Reservation Criteria

  • Candidates belonging to SC/ ST categories and North-East should have secured an aggregate of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/ Biology in high school.
  • And for those belonging to Jammu and Kashmir also the minimum aggregate requirement is 50%.

VITEEE- Application Form

Students seeking admission through VITEEE have to compulsorily register for the entrance test by filling the VITEEE 2020 application form between 27th September, 2019 – 29th February 2020.

Steps to Apply Online

Steps to fill Online VITEEE 2020 Registration Form are listed below. Candidate should go through each of them to have a clarity of filling the form: 

Step 1: Visit the official website of VIT i.e. vit.ac.in

Step 2: Once you are there, click on the “New Applicant” option.

Step 3: You will be taken to the registration page. Provide all the required details. Now you will get login credentials through your registered email ID.

Step 4: Login using the credentials and enter all the required details.

Step 5: Select a payment method for paying the application fee for VITEEE.

Step 6: Upload your photo and signature.

Steps to Apply Offline

Steps to fill VITEEE 2020 Application Form via offline process are listed below. Please go through each of them:

Step 1: Buy the application form from one of the VIT Campus.

Step 2: Fill up all the details and then check it once.

Step 3: Send the VITEEE 2020 Application Form through registered post or speed post. Application form should reach VIT before February 29, 2020.

VITEEE 2020 – Application Form Correction

The last date to make corrections in the VITEEE 2020 Application Form is February 29, 2020. During this process, candidates who have submitted incorrect data in their VITEEE application form can correct the same. This will be a one-time correction facility granted to candidates. Please note that the option to edit the application form was made available only after completion of the application form.

VITEEE 2020 – Registration or Application Fee

Application fees for VITEEE 2020 can be paid both online and offline. The mode of online payment for VITEEE 2020 are NET Banking/ Credit Card/ Debit Card and the offline application form can be paid through post offices or DD in favor of Vellore Institute of technology from campuses of VIT – Bhopal, Chennai, Vellore, Amravati.

VITEEE 2020 – Admit card

VITEEE Admit Card 2020 – Vellore Institute of Technology will release the VITEEE 2020 admit card in the 3rd week of March. It will be released in online mode after the successful completion of slot booking. 

Exam’s slot booking will be available from March third week. To book a slot candidates need to login to Online Test Booking System (OTBS) portal using their application number and password. VITEEE admit card will be generated after the successful completion of slot booking. 

The admit card (VIT admit card) will have details about the exam venue, date and time of exam, exam centres address along with  candidates information like name of candidate and father’s name, application number and more. Those who wish to appear for the exam will have to compulsorily book slot.

Steps to download VITEEE 2020 Admit Card

VITEEE Admit Card 2020 will be available for candidates at the official website i.e. www.vit.ac.in.  In order to download the admit card students must follow these simple steps.

Step 1: Visit vit.ac.in

Step 2: Click on ‘VITEEE Admit Card 2020’. This will redirect to a new page and the Online Slot booking system will open for you.

Step 3: Enter Application Number and Password and enter the captcha. Login and click “Book a seat”. Book your test slot as per your choice of test center and time

Step 4: Confirm your booking and click Submit

Step 5: After confirming the slot, download VITEEE Admit Card 2020. Save and take a print out.

VITEEE 2020 – Marking Scheme

The calculation of total score of a candidate in VITEEE exam will be done on the following basis-

  • Each correct answer will be awarded 1 mark.
  • There is no negative marking.

VITEEE 2020- Result

The Exam Conducting authorities shall declare VITEEE 2020 result online on 30TH April,2020 on its official website of VIT i.e. vit.ac.in. Candidates will be able to check their VITEEE 2020 result by filling the application number and date of birth. The exam conducting authorities will prepare a rank list of VITEEE 2020 on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates in the entrance exam.

The University also sends the result via SMS and email only if it was provided during the application process.

VITEEE 2020 – Answer Key

After the exam, the exam conducting authorities shall release an answer key on its official website. The answer key will consist of all the correct answers. Candidates can tally their answers with the answer key and can estimate the score that they can secure in the exam.

VITEEE 2020- Cut Off

Cut Off is the minimum marks or percentage that a candidate must secure in order to clear the exam. Only the candidates who will score equal or above the cut off in VITEEE 2020 will be eligible to take admission. Candidates who will clear VITEEE will be called to participate in VITEEE counselling.

VITEEE 2020 – Counselling and Seat Allotment

VITEEE counselling 2020 is tentatively scheduled to be held in the 2nd week of May. VIT will decide the cut-off score on the basis of applicant’s marks and the number of seats available. There are two stages of VITEEE counselling 2020. Third stage can also be conducted if there are still some seats vacant. Selected candidates can select their choice of course from the offered courses on the day of counselling as per the order of merit and availability. 

Applicants must carry the following documents at the time of VITEEE Counselling 2020:

  • VITEEE 2020 e-admit card
  • VITEEE Result copy
  • 10th class certificate to verify date of birth
  • Mark sheet of the qualifying exam
  • Community certificate (for SC/ST candidates only)
  • Nativity certificate (for candidates belonging to J&K, NE states like Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura).
  • Demand Draft of INR 30,000 drawn in favor of “VIT University” is payable at Vellore 

Note: Fees paid at the counselling includes INR 10,000 towards counselling fee which is Non-refundable. Candidates without the fee will not be allowed to take part in this counselling. The counselling and processing fee are non-refundable, but it will be adjusted in the academic fees once the candidate joins the university.

 VITEEE  2020 – Frequently Asked Questions

Ans. No, there is only one way to get into VIT is by attending VITEEE and getting a seat through it.

Ans. VITEEE difficulty level is somewhere more than that of state CET and less than that of JEE Main.

Ans.  It depends upon the different campuses, VIT is better than some NITs’ and some other NITs’ are better than VIT. One can consider VIT to be on the same level as that of NIT.

Ans. No, VIT is a private university based in the town of Vellore, Tamil Nadu.

Ans. There is no Negative Marking in VITEEE. 

Ans. Slot booking is the procedure where candidates books his/her exam slot in the location and time slot according to their preference.

Ans. VIT is conducted only in online mode.

Ans. The marks are not disclosed by VIT in VITEEE results. It is a rank-based result candidate whose rank is under one lakh are shown as qualified and are eligible for further counselling. All those rank holders under 20k are called in phase 1 and the remaining in phase 2. Candidate need to score 80+ to get a rank under 20k.

Ans. While both the campuses are under the same administration, VIT Vellore has a far better quality of education and faculty than VIT Chennai.
